PROGRAM

The 2018 Australian Assistive Technology Conference theme is Experiences, Opportunities and Innovations. This theme allows focus on the expertise of assistive technology users, developers and suppliers, as well as the burgeoning opportunities and innovations occurring in the field of assistive technology in Australia and internationally.

The program will include three days of international and national keynote presentations focused on assistive technology use across the lifespan (and within both community and rehabilitation settings), a breakfast meeting, targeted workshops, platform presentations, and exhibition and equipment showcases.

ARATA Breakfast Session

At the 2018 Australian Assistive Technology Conference (AATC), ARATA has developed a collaboration with the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations and OT Australia to deliver a breakfast session on Day 2 of the AATC program 

 

The aim of the 2018 breakfast session is to harness expertise of AATC 2018 delegates and other key stakeholders to make an evidenced set of outcome tools available for AT users in order to document the impacts of AT. 

The ARATA Breakfast session is inclusive with AATC full registration.

Accommodation

Accommodation booked through online registration, will secure a special Conference rate (Subject to availability)

Please note that all unsold rooms will be released 31 days before the conference as a result any accommodation bookings will not be able to be made during the online registration process.

Full Registrations includes: Attendance at all sessions from 14-16 November 2018, access to the exhibition hall, catering, welcome reception, breakfast session and access to exclusive conference materials.

Day Registrations includes: Attendance at all Conference sessions on the nominated day of attendance, access to the exhibition hall and catering for the nominated day of attendance.

Group Registrations includes: Attendance at all Conference sessions on the nominated day of attendance, access to the exhibition hall and catering for the nominated day of attendance. Group registration must be 3 or more delegates registering at the same from the same organisation.

Payment must accompany all registrations and may be made by:

Credit card: Debits to your credit card will appear as ‘All Occasions Management’ on your statement.

Please note that payments via credit card will incur a merchant fee of 1.25% for MasterCard, 1.65% Visa, 2% for American Express or 3.45% for Diners.

Payment of early bird registration fees are required by the early bird cut-off date to qualify for the rate. After the early bird due date, all unpaid early bird registrations will automatically roll over and the delegates will be charged at the regular rate. Admission to the Conference and all social functions may be refused if payment has not been received.

Any changes to registrations will need to be emailed to All Occasions Group, conference@aomevents.com.

Registration cancellations must be sent in writing, faxed or emailed, to All Occasions Group.

Registration cancellations received up to 30 days prior to the conference will receive a full refund, less a $120.00 handling fee.

Registration cancellations received less than 30 days and up to 7 days prior to the conference will receive a 50% refund.

No refunds will be given for registration cancellations received within 7 days of the conference; however a substitute delegate may be nominated.

Refunds from any deposits forwarded to hotels, tour companies or other related business will be at the discretion of the supplier.

By completing and submitting the registration form, you are indicating your intention to attend the Conference and you will be liable for a cancellation fee if you are unable to attend. All registration related cancellations and amendments must be sent in writing to conference@aomevents.com.

In the event of industrial disruptions or natural disasters the conference organising committee, associated organisations & individuals, and All Occasions Group cannot accept responsibility for any financial or other losses incurred by the delegates. Nor can the conference organising committee, associated organisations & individuals, and All Occasions Group take responsibility for injury or damage to persons or property occurring during the conference. All insurance including medical cover and for expenses incurred in the event of the cancellation of the conference is the individual delegate’s responsibility. The policy should include loss of fees/deposits through cancellation of your participation in the conference, or through the cancellation of the conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. The conference secretariat will take no responsibility for any participant failing to insure.

The All Occasions Group complies with all legislation which is designed to protect the rights of the individual to privacy of their information, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). All information collected with respect to your registration for participation in this conference will only be used for the purposes of planning, conduct of the event or communication regarding future events.

These details may be made available to parties directly related to the conference including but not limited to the All Occasions Group, venues, accommodation and travel providers (for the purposes of room/ travel bookings and conference options), key sponsors (subject to strict conditions) and other related parties as deemed necessary.

It is proposed to produce a ‘Delegate List’ of attendees at the conference and to include the individual’s details in such a list. By completing registration online form, you acknowledge that the details supplied by you may be used for the above purposes. It is your responsibility to ensure that all information provided to the All Occasions Group is accurate and kept up to date.

To book accommodation a valid credit card must be provided at the time of booking.

Accommodation prices listed are the nightly rate provided by the hotel. Please note, by accepting the terms and conditions you authorise the debit to your credit card for any incidentals or cancellation fee(s). This information will be securely distributed to the hotel. The hotel at its discretion may process this debit immediately or wait until you check-out. No pre-payment is required; your credit card will be used as the booking guarantee. The full accommodation amount will be paid upon check in/out to the booked hotel.

Accommodation Alterations and Cancellations

Alterations or cancellation of hotel accommodation must be sent in writing to All Occasions Group, not the hotel. Please see the accommodation terms and conditions for each hotel. Below you will be required to accept these terms and conditions when completing the registration form. If you do not accept the terms and conditions, accommodation will not be reserved. All rates are in Australian dollars, inclusive of GST and are for room only unless otherwise indicated. The accommodation availability and prices shown are subject to change without notice in accordance with the terms and conditions of each supplier. AATC 2018 and All Occasions Management accept no responsibility for any additional costs or inconvenience incurred.

Cancellation Policy

Each hotel will charge a one night’s cancellation penalty for cancelled rooms within 30 days to 24 hours prior to the conference, and all night’s cancellation penalty for cancelled rooms within 24 hours or no-shows.

Any alterations or cancellation of hotel accommodation must be sent in writing to All Occasions Group, not to the hotel. Cancellations with less than 30 days’ notice will incur 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations received after 13 October 2018 and no shows, will incur a penalty equal to the full duration of stay.

Cancellations received with less than 31 days prior to arrival will be charged for one night’s accommodation, per room booked. Cancellations received with less than 22 days prior to arrival will incur a penalty equal to the full duration of stay. No shows will be charged for the full duration of stay.

Nominate now for the AATC 2018 Engineers Australia Better Technology Awards

The Engineers Australia College of Biomedical Engineers Better Technology Awards are offered to provide incentive and encouragement for the design and marketing of a technological product.

Entrants will be required to attend the Australian Assistive Technology Conference to be held in Melbourne from 14th to 16th November 2018 and if practical, the product must be available for demonstration.

AWARDS

Cash prizes will be presented for 1st and 2nd place in each category. Each award winning recipient will also be presented with a certificate.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The product must be designed and/or manufactured in Australia or New Zealand at the time judging.

Two categories are offered:

  • Commercial – The product must be in its initial production run or have been available in the market place for no longer than 24 months.
  • Prototype – The product must be in its prototype stage prior to commercial production.

The product to be assessed for the award consists of the whole package available to the end user. This includes quality control systems, maintenance support, product sales literature and packaging where appropriate.

ARATA

ARATA is a national association whose purpose is to serve as a forum for information sharing and liaison between people who are involved with the use, prescription, customisation, supply and ongoing support of assistive technology.

Participation through technology

ARATA is a member of the Alliance of Assistive Technology Professional Organisations with sister organisations Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Europe, America and Australia. The aim of this agreement is to foster cooperation between these organisations and their members.
