Associate Professor Lisa O’Brien is Director of Research for School of Primary Health Care at Monash University, where she also teaches in the Master of Occupational Therapy Practice course. Lisa worked in vocational rehabilitation for many years before specialising in hand injury rehabilitation. She is in Accredited Hand Therapist (as awarded by Australian Hand Therapy Association) and her research has focused on facilitating consumer adherence with treatment. She is currently working with engineers, designers, and a prosthetist to improve the usefulness of 3D-printed hand devices for consumers. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to travel to the USA and Europe in 2018 to learn cutting-edge design, fabrication and rehabilitation methods for 3D printed hand devices from experts in this rapidly developing field.
